Hi, my name is Lanson66! When will my first LCWRA payment be?

Hi, I have been trying to get an updated work capability assessment for some time. I was originally assessed in May 2019 and placed in LCW.


from August 2019 I have been referred to IAPT to help with my mental health. My condition worsened from August 2019 and then everything stopped for covid.


in February 2021 I started to push for an updated work capability assessment, my job coach advised via my journal that updated assessments were not going ahead at that time. Again in July 2021 I pushed for a reassessment, at that time a different person from the job Center advised that I would receive a new form and to obtain a fit note.


 I completely the form late July and eventually had a telephone assessment earlier this month. I have been notified in my journal on 8 March 22 that I have now been awarded LCWRA. 


Could you advise when my first payment will be received , my usual date for UC is 21 monthly. Will I get backdated LCWRA and if so from when? The date of my fit note in July or from February when I had the note in my journal with incorrect information stating that assessments were not going ahead

    Hello @Lanson66 and welcome to the community.

    This would depend on whether you reported the worsening condition to UC or whether they consider it a general review.

    If they accept you reported a worsening condition it should be backdated, if they did it under general review, it only goes from the date of decision.

    Did you provide fit notes or report a new or worsening condition to UC at all?

    Hi Adrian, thanks for your reply. I spoke to DWP today and they said that I would not get backdated as previously I was LCW. I reported that my condition worsened in February 2021 , I was asking for a reassessment not a general review.

    A reassessment is a general review.

    If you reported a change you should get the LCWRA element added from the assessment period in which you reported the change.

    Having now spoken again with DWP they have advised that they will request a mandatory consideration from a decision maker. My online journal clearly states that I reported a worsening condition and asked for a reassessment. I was in the LCW group from May 2019 until I received my reassessment form eventually in July 21 having advised DWP via my journal in February 21.
