Just reading about the government stopping people from getting winter warming scheme I have never had it so I won't miss it , lot elderly receive that payment I've only ever received the payment where it's £25 if it goes below 0 but apparently now no one's entitled to it by the end of next year they going to bring it in when nobody's entitled to it I just wanted to know whether this was true or not because you read a lot online but I'm not sure if it's true it does say scope in it so that's why I come on

I've not heard anything about it stopping. It's only in place between 1st November and 31st March. Are you sure you read it correctly? Can you post a link to what you read?

Thanks. That's the warm home discount, not the cold weather payment. There will be changes to the eligibility criteria of the Warm home discount this year.

Cold weather payments are automatically paid (to those that qualify) if the average temperature in your area is recorded as, or forecast to be, zero degrees celsius or below over 7 consecutive days. The wam home discount isn't automatically paid, you need to claim it from your energy supplier.

Warm Home Discount which is for £150 is applied for through BRITISH Gas. The cold weather payment is sent from PIP for £10 every year so far? these are two different things and the warm home discount isn’t automatic it’s something that you need to apply for & is Paid in March of every year once you’ve received it0

No. It's applied for through the electricity supplier at the property (if they are part of the scheme) - not British Gas specifically.DianneXxxx said:Warm Home Discount which is for £150 is applied for through BRITISH Gas.

When it's paid totally depends on each individual supplier. I've received it in the past as early as December.

@DianneXxxx I think that the £10 per year you are getting from PIP is probably the Christmas Bonus and nothing to do with Cold Weather Payments.DianneXxxx said:Warm Home Discount which is for £150 is applied for through BRITISH Gas.
