Hello Everyone & Thank you for having Me! I have a question regarding wet rooms?
My council property is not a disabled registered property & I only had this installed last year due to health reasons. I want to now move! But the wet room is not going to appeal to everyone! How Easy? Or Hard can it be to ask the council to convert this back? as I’m sure this will somehow hinder my move? any advice welcomed so I can understand better.

Hello @DianneXxxx
Welcome to the community, I hope you are well and having a nice weekend.
This is a very supportive and welcoming place so I'm sure you'll enjoy taking part. I have moved your discussion over to our housing category so please feel free to have a browse through there for any related discussions.
I'm not sure how easy or hard it will be to get them to convert it back, but I'm sure that there will be interest in taking your property from other disabled people who are looking to move. Have you discussed it with the council? They might be able to ease your concerns over it a bit.
Is there any particular reason you are looking to move?0 -
Hi there
The property is the responsibility of the council and will be up to them when you leave as yo whether they convert it back and not your problem
Tbh I think they would just leave it as a wet room is also usable for anyone and I don't think it would put many people off wanting the property0 -
I would say it's extremely unlikely they would convert it back. Was the wet room installed with funding from a Disabled Facilities Grant? If it was then there could a clause that you need to stay in the property for at least 5 years, otherwise you may have to repay it back. https://www.gov.uk/disabled-facilities-grants/eligibility

I can tell you it's had to get a move when you have a wetroom I've been trying for 6 years fou d my dream house the person submitted her medical records and it was refused. She was told to apply for a wetroom at her home. So still no move for me. And it even harder as homeswapper is a waste of time as is glassbob no one responds very irritating. Hope this helps oh by the way my council is westminister and it's a council house.
