Awaiting Decision (pip)

Hi All, so I applied for pip on 23rd Nov 2021, got the forms sent back to them Dec 2021 had my telephone assessment 4th April 2022 had txt the same day from DWP saying they've received my report, not heard anything back to date. My question is IF they award me when will I get it from? Is it the initial phonecall before filling forms? Or from the date you put on your application form when sending back? Ive very nearly rang twice but ended the call half way through in fear of what I might be told. There's so many not so good stories about pip claims so it's really stressful the wait.

It's paid from the date you rang to start your claim, if successfiully awarded, providing you're not transferring from DLA.

Thank you, I'd like to be able to say my telephone assessment went well but you never do know, the waiting for decision is even worse than waiting for the telephone assessment to be over. Mind you it's only been 2 and a half weeks since my assessment.

Yes, i totally agree how stressful the wait actually is. Timescales for decisions is up to 12 weeks, sometimes longer. If successfully awarded payment usually goes into your bank before you receive the decision letter (unless you're transferring from DLA)

Trying to be really pessimistic so I won't feel so bad if they reject my application.

To be honest you'll be pleased when it's over but then, like me you'll be just as anxious waiting for the decision. Good Luck, hope it goes well for you x

@Ann1405 hello welcome to the community

very nice quite comforting knowing the other people go through similar situations it really does help my anxiety

i’m also going through the procedure I think we are roughly at same stage together send to my Pip application back Late  October last year telephone assessment on the 24th of March 2022

my PIP application went into an audit is nearly after four weeks I received a text to days ago from DWP saying they have received all my information please do not call them they will let me know in eight weeks

I’m also very anxious not overwhelming time if I was to offer anyone some advice it would be trying to focus on something else is the best thing otherwise it’s going to be a long wait

@poppy123456 Gives great advice and has really helped me through this process the best thing is positive mindset and at the end of it everything will work his way out in the end

Indeed, but that was someone who has no idea of the length of the backlogs. They tell everyone 8 weeks. In reality as calcotti has advised, it's anything up to 12 weeks, sometimes longer.

    Had my telephone assessment today.
Applied and done forms via email in Feb this year.
Had my assessment this morning at 10.30 on the dot, seemed a nice young lady only on the phone for 30 mins (not looking into that ha ha)
So waiting game for me also.
    Fingers crossed all x

Yes I was told by the assessor anything up to 8 weeks so it's just me impatiently over thinking things playing the whole scenario over and over in my head as to whether I ticked their boxes or not. It is awful that you feel as if the assessor is trying to make you out as a fraud or at least that's how I felt during the telephone assessment.

@Ann1405 I was also told at the end of my telephone assessment I receive a decision after 8 weeks i’m not too sure because I’m pretty sure Covid backlog

and also my application got called in for an audit I think so anyway because I didn’t hear anything from David WP till four weeks after telling me received my written report

so from now I’m waiting 8  weeks give me a very long process and it helps to try and concentrate on something else

Can’t really comment much on the assessor For have a People I can only comment on My own experience with the assessor everybody’s assessment process is different

but all I can say is my sister was very lovely made me feel at ease and I just told her the exact truth and what it’s like on a daily basis for me and my mental health and my disability is

from my point of view I think she done a very thorough assessment and was very polite well mannered and gave me extra time when I needed lots of breaks in between the conversation very supportive

also I know it can be very daunting and overwhelming explaining everything to an assessor

    Best of luck
