    Part of the criteria for PIP is you must have had the condition for at least 3 months. If you didn’t then they will only pay you from the start of those 3 months, rather than when you first applied. 
    Unless you were transferring from DLA and then there’s no backdated money.

    Have you had a letter confirming the payments or just a payment? If the letter says the award only starts from 7th April then you should query it (provided your form was clear about when your difficulties started).

    No it wasn’t clear. You only said you had been paid from 7th April - not that you had a letter stating that was the award start date. I wanted to be completely clear about your situation, You will need to ring them to ask why the award only starts from 7th April.
