I'm not sure whether I have the strength to appeal again. Any positive experiences?

When you say you've appealed twice, was this at Tribunal stage and you were refused both times? Have you ever successfully claimed PIP?

Hi @flobake. Welcome to Scope’s forum. It is great to see you have joined us. How are you today?
Thanks for finding the courage to reach out to us. I appreciate how daunting reaching out for support can be, especially the first time.
I can hear how PIP is making you feel anxious. In particular, you are not sure you have the strength to appeal again. Is there anyone who can help you with appealing?
It is understandable that despite reading all the tips etc, you feel anxious about PIP. Not least when you are struggling with lots of long term illnesses and mental health and this has made it worse.
Would you like to tell us more about the long term illnesses and mental health you have been experiencing and whether or not you feel you are receiving the support you need for managing these? We are here for you if you would like to share more with us.
It sounds really difficult that you are struggling to work and may be dismissed. Is there anything, in particular, which has triggered you to struggle with work and are you able to talk to anyone within your employment about the difficulties you are experiencing?
I cannot share any experiences of UC. However, I can say that I hear you and am here for you. I am sure there will be lots of our community members who will be happy to share their experiences with you. One section of the forum you might find useful is called universal credit (UC). You will most likely be able to read other people’s experiences there.
I believe you know the answer to whether or not you should appeal. We will listen to you regardless of what you want to do but you need to do what you feel is best for you at this time.
Please keep us up to date with how you are, we are all here for you and listening with arms wide open

OP says they're not entitled to UC.@flobake are you currently claiming SSP from an employer? If not, have you worked at all in tax years April 2019 to March 2021? If you have and you've paid the correct amount of NI contributions you'll be able to claim New style ESA. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/new-style-employment-and-support-allowanceflobake said:I cannot claim uc not entitled!

I cannot get UC because my hubby earns too much my sick notes coming to a end this wk I have a meeting at work to see if they let me back ! The triggers are I have IBD I am at reception and not allowed to keep going to toilet in evenings as it gets busy as you can imagine the anxiety it causes that if you have a episode and cannot hold in your bowels you may have a accident at the mo my IBD is not diagnosed as IBS or chrones I'm still waiting for second colonoscopy! It's all up in the air lines wondering how many people who have won pip on the second time around this is not new too me but I'm not sure wether to go through the appeal I find the whole thing demeaning and draining is there anyone who has one it's over 3 yrs now of trying0

As poppy has said if your ssp has ended and you have paid correct level of ni you maybe entitled to new style esa see the link
You don't explain how you are affected by illness against the pip descriptors eg preparing food , bathing, dressing, mobility , taking meds , communication, managing finances etc
So it's hard to advise if it is worth appealing
Have you sought any expert advice from welfare rights or cab or other local advice centres . They can help and advice on your appeal
Also have you discussed reasonable adjustments at work or been referred to oh for a work place assessment to help facilitate a return to work . Are there any other roles you could do within the company0 -
PIP isn't awarded based on any diagnosis. It's how those conditions affect you against the 12 PIP activities. You can have a disability but not qualify for PIP because if you don't fit the descriptors you won't score the points needed for an award. They are some people that just don't qualify, regardless of how many times they apply. I'm not saying this is you because i have no idea exactly how your conditions affect you. Before going any further i'd advise you to get some expert advice from an advice agency near you. This way you can explain to them exactly how you're affected and they will be able to tell you if you can score enough points for an award.Start here. https://advicelocal.uk/You didn't say whether you're claiming SSP from your employer, just just mentioned your fit note ending soon. If you're claiming SSP then 3 months before this ends you can apply for New style ESA, you'll need a fit note and your SSP1 form from your employer. Payments won't start until the SSP ends. You will only qualify for payments if you've paid the correct amount of NI contributions in the years mentioned above.

flobake said:new style ESA is part if UC so I cannot get thisThat's not correct. New style ESA is not part of UC and never will be. If you're eligible for SSP from your employer you must claim this for 28 weeks. 3 months before the SSP ends if you've paid the correct amount of NI contributions from working in tax years April 2019 to March 2021 then you can claim New style ESA. You'll need your SSP1 form and a fit note from your GP.It's not means tested so a partner working/savings/capital do not affect the amount you're entitled to.
