PIP and living in France

in PIP, DLA, ADP and AA
If I moved to France on a long term basis would I still be able to claim my PIP as I have the Daily Living and Mobility component. I presume my housing benefit and ESA would stop, is this correct please?

    Yes if you were moving to Australia but not if the absence was intended to be temporary - eg you were going on holiday. For PIP you can still be entitled to PIP for the first 13 weeks of a temporary absence provided you intended to return back to GB within that period. If the temporary absence is solely in connection with medical treatment for your illness or disability that began before you left GB then you an be entitled to PIP for the first 26 weeks of that temporary absence again provided you intended to return within that 26 week period.

    @Sue_Scope however the thread is about moving away long term, so temporary doesn’t really come into it.

    Agreed but this, to my mind,  was not clear from the post which the OP had made.   I just wanted  to clarify that it wasn't the destination that was relevant but whether the absence was temporary or not.  I was concerned that post might be read in isolation.

    Thats great. This is the post I was referring to.  In my opinion it wasn't clear.

    @Sue_Scope considering it followed on straight from the question about permanent moves, you can pretty much guarantee they meant that as a follow on on the basis they meant long term. 

    All this “just in case” information is side tracking the thread. I thought Scope did not like this?

    Hi @MarkM88 it sounds to me like Lee's question came up quite naturally in this thread, and Sue was replying to it as the latest post in the discussion at that time.

    I think it's useful to have the extra information @Sue_Scope provided, as it may well help clarify things for other people who are searching the forum for information on entitlement to PIP when traveling, or when planning to move abroad :)
