Hi everyone,
I received my decision letter today.
Zero points across the whole thing.
What upset me is that the DM disagreed with everything I discussed with the assessor.
The DM said I don’t suffer with anxiety, the assessor had to calm me down many times over the 2hr 45min call, I’m the decision letter it had agreed that I’m not good with looking after myself or my medication but still awarded me zero points.
So many things in the letter look as though she hadn’t even read my assessment.
The assessor even called my doctor after to call me as she was worried about my mental state.
Why do these DM make such poor judgment.
I’m so distressed I don’t think I’ve got the will power to appeal it.

    Hi @Keenajackson77

Thanks for making this post, sorry to hear that your claim wasn't successful, it can feel really disheartening when you receive the letter and it says 0 points.

If you believe you should have been awarded it is worth fighting on and proceeding with the MR, it involves them taking another look at your claim. There is nothing to lose, at least, so it's certainly worth a shot :)  There is some information on this page about how you can go about carrying out the MR, as well as a link to a template you can use to put it together.

    Thank you.
I will give myself a day to clear my head and maybe look into MR.
I’ve read the decision letter so many times and I just don’t understand how they’ve just completely overlooked  everything that was discussed.
It really does make you feel so low and worthless.
    Thanks again for your advise.

I understand how you must feel @Keenajackson77, it is really frustrating. Hopefully though after a day or two to relax and clear your head, you can approach the MR with a renewed determination and hope :)

You can always access the peer support on the community too, if you ever need to talk or ask about something then feel free to post :)

    Thanks.
How do I go about getting the assessment report or can I not get that now I’ve been refused!

You don't need the assessment report to request the Mandatory Reconsideration. (MR) Having the report when requesting the MR can be a distraction and often causes people to contrate on the report more than anything else. Doing this isn't going to get you a PIP award.
For the MR you should put it in writing stating where and why you think you should have scored those points.
Include a couple of real world incidents of exactly what happened the last time you attempted that activity for each descriptor that applies to you. Adding information such as where you were, what exactly happened, did anyone see it and what the consequences were.

    Oh right ok, thanks poppy.
I didn’t really want the assessment report but thought I may have needed it.
I will start reading into and using your info to start a MR tomorrow.
I’m also going to contact my mental health nurse to help me as I had a terrible anxiety attack when I last saw her. (Was after assessment).
    Regards.

    Hi
Look at the information available and concentrate on putting together a fantastic MR !  Can you get any more supporting evidence of how your conditions affected you when you made your PIP claim - statements from friends and family can be helpful in addition to providing the information that @poppy123456 has mentioned.   Reading the assessment can be upsetting when you feel that the assessor has not made an accurate account of what happened at the assessment.  You can make a complaint to the assessment provider but that wont get you your PIP award as @poppy123456 has said. Don't forget that you must put in your MR within 30 days of the DWP's decision letter although it can be sent late but you need to give a reason for it being late. Good luck !

I don’t have any friends and my son is my only family and I’d rather not involve him as he is deep into uni exams and i don’t want him worrying, I hid a lot of my anxiety from him.
I’m going to make a rough draft and do bullet points then write it out.
I don’t want to make a complaint I just want to try and make someone look at my claim again, fairly.
    Regards

Ok that's entirely understandable and relatable. Give yourself a bit of time and the community is here for you if you need support from people who have gone through the MR process and can empathise with how you are feeling.  Good luck !
