Anyone else been waiting 24 weeks for a Pip decision?

Hi all I'm new here and just wondering if anyone else has been waiting 24 weeks for a decision. I'm my son's appointee and had a phone accessment on april 8th I called last week to see what's happening and was told it was past to the dm early last week. Any help would be greatful

    Yes, perfectly normal to wait this long after applying, in fact some wait as long as 10 months. Backlogs are quite long in some areas. Once the report is returned in then takes up to 12 weeks, sometimes longer.

    I'm kind of worried as I has a letter on friday saying my carers allowance would stop on June 7th

    I can hear how you are worried that you got a letter saying your carers allowance would stop. Did they explain why or provide any contact details for support or appeal?

    In all honesty, carers allowance isn't an area of my expertise. This means I can only hope someone with more knowledge in this area will be able to respond to you soon.

    In the meantime, I just wanted to respond to say we hear you and are here for you. Sending you hugs  :)

    Was the DLA due to end on that date? Although it should continue until a decision's been made on the PIP but when she was awarded the DLA it would have had an end date.
    They do share information with carers allowance. For carers allowance to continue she would need a daily living award of PIP.
    Once the decision's been made on the PIP, if you're not happy you can challenge it by requesting the Mandatory Reconsideration.

    Yes his dla was due to end that date I had a letter saying dla would continue until a decision has been made but there was no date to say when it would carry on till

    The reason there's no date when his DLA will end because it's impossible to predict when the PIP decision will be made. You need to ring Carers allowance and tell them.

    I’m on week 28 right now, everything is just taking so long due to the backlogs, hopefully you hear something back soon

    I'm on week 30 of my first ever claim, it has been really stressful. It looks like the report was sent for audit or something after my assessment as it took 4 weeks to return it to the DWP, and today I was told it's currently an absolute minimum of 3 weeks between receiving the report and making a decision (which will take me to at least week 32) x

    I know, and currently it's no fewer than 3 weeks. I said in my post that's the absolute minimum at the moment  :)

    When you google it, some posts from around the internet show people saying they were surprised to get a decision a week or two after the report was returned so I was just letting anyone reading this know not to get their hopes up before at least the three-week mark.

    Decision's can still be made within a couple of weeks after the report has been returned, members on here have had decisions this quick. The minimum timescale really means nothing because there's no timescales. Backlogs are just part of the reason a decison can be delayed.

    So my carers allowance is awarded until 2023. So if called pip helpline again this evening and a lovely man has told me that my son's claim is with a case manager and I should of had a decision by now. Any ideas anyone

    Timescales for a decision are anything up to 12 weeks, sometimes longer. It's worth remembering that when you ring PIP you're speaking to someone from a call centre, who will have no idea of the length of the backlogs or when a decision will be made.
    There's nothing more you can do until that decisions been made. If successfully awarded at least daily living PIP then carers allowance will continue, otherwise it will stop once DLA ends.
