LCWRA Payments and Backpay

edited June 2022 in Universal Credit (UC)
Hi all, could someone please help me. I’ve left countless messages on my journal and spoke to a very rude man on the helpline (he told me ‘well you’ve survived this long on your money, waiting shouldn’t be a problem!) all I wanted to know was a) am I due any backpay (my car is broke and fridge freezer on way out, so do I get loan or wait for money that maybe owed) and b) when will the LCWRA payments start coming through.
Handed sicknote in on 2/12/21.
My pay date is the 4th of each month and this is based on what I’ve ‘earned’ between 28-29 of each month.
Had letter confirming I’m now on LCWRA on 13th May 2022 which also stated a message would be left in my journal within 7working days (I’ve had no message).
Could someone please help me out. I’m new to all this, so any help would be gratefully appreciated. I’ve read other people’s post about LCWRA but as my dates are different I’m struggling to work it out.
Thanks in advance for any/all help.

There's a full 3 month assessment period waiting time and the extra money is then paid from the 4th month of your claim.
Your waiting period will be as follows. Dec/Jan, Jan/Feb, Feb/March. First payment will be April.
Edited as got the waiting period incorrect (it's early)

If you first declared your health condition on 2/12/21 that is in your Nov to Dec Assessment period, The LCWRA element would be payable with the April payment.

If you declared the health condition within the 7 days prior to submitting the Fit Note the answer may be different.

Thank you so much for your help, it’s been driving me insane! I’ve not received my LWCRA in my June payment (received today, due to bank holidays) so I’m presuming this will start in July. Is backpay only paid with your UC payments, so the 4th of the month or can this be paid at anytime? Thanks in advance

The LCWRA element should have been added to this months payment. Money owed is always paid separately and it can often take a few weeks to pay this.
Leave a message onto your journal telling them the date you reported your health condition and the 3 month waiting period starts from this date. Tell them you didn't have the extra money this month also. Based on your information here your first payment should be from April.

Thank you so much for your help, I feel like I can breathe now. I’ve been putting messages on my journal daily (since the 13th May) and I’ve had no response. I will try again today.

Put the message under the payment section.

Hi I'm going through the same kind of thing, I put my first fit note in May 9th 2022, so I'm assuming I should of started receiving lcwra in September, but ive had no extra payments as of yet, I've had a message in my journal telling me I'm entitled to lcwra but no dates or anything else saying when I will start receiving this, I also receive high rate pip and I had the first payment for that last month and the back pay on the same day I got the letter saying I'm eligible, I'm just a bit confused really will the lcwra be paid on the same date as uc or is it completely separate? Also should I be receiving lcwra already?from what I have gathered off the net and on here i should have started to get that in September, thanks.

You haven't given enough of information for anyone to be able to advise you. What date do you usually receive your UC each month?
The LCWRA element will increase your maximum UC and will be paid on the same date as your UC is always paid. LCWRA is part of UC and one of many other elements.

Sorry what else do you need? My uc is paid on the 15th. Am I right in saying it should of started in September? I had a home visit for my assessment in September too, but because I now receive pip and I'm eligible for lcwra I've been told I don't need any fit notes, I'm still covered by one though as I get 6month fit notes. I'm pretty confused with it all to be honest I normally get help with all of this stuff it was actually a family member that did all of mu paperwork etc but I'm on my own at the minute I'm a bit list with it all.

That means your assessment periods are 9th to 8th of each month. Providing you sent fit notes for the whole time without any gaps then your waiting period will be May/June, June/July, July/Aug.. LCWRA starts from AP Aug 9th to Sept 8th and first payment should have been Sept 15th.
This is assuming you're not claiming UC with a partner that already receives the LCWRA element on your claim.
When was the decision made? It's not unsual for it to take quite a few weeks, sometimes longer for them to pay what is owed.

Thanks I've put a message in my journal earlier on pretty much using the advice in this thread gave them the dates etc, no reply as of yet though but that's not surprising. And no I'm on my own and I've only had 2 fit notes since the beginning of my claim both 6 month fit notes with no gap, infact i had them overlap by a week to be safe, I have severe mental and physical health problems so my appointments are either telephone or home visits and I'm pretty much bed bound at the moment. It was the middle of last month that I was told I was eligible for lcwra in my journal, I haven't received any letters though. And I havnt had any response since then where I also made them aware that I have also been accepted for high rate living and mobility pip. So I should just hang on and wait for now considering its only been a month? Thanks.

I would have expected the LCWRA element to have been added to your next statement after the decision was made, unless the decision was made quite close to when you usually receive your statement.
When you put a message on your journal did you put it under the payment section?
