I applied for PIP in March, but have just been diagnosed with breast cancer. Should I tell them?

I have put a pip claim on 25th march and got a text message on the 9th May saying they received my how my disability affects me form but I have since found out I have breast cancer should I ring them and tell them or wait and tell them when I have the assessment

Hi,PIP isn't awarded based on any diagnosis. Unless you have a diagnosis of less than 6 months to live then there's no need to update them. You can just tell them during your assessment.0

I have surgery on Tuesday .I will ring macmillan help line on Monday thanks for your help0
