Hi I was looking at your forum last night, and discovered that before being (wrongly) moved onto UC I was entitled to the Disability Premium as I was on income support and in receipt of PIP. I have been on UC for 5 years now and spoke to income support today to enquire about it being backdated (The Disability Premium) whilst being on income support ? Am I entitled to a backpayment? Thank you xx

The rules applied to those that were claiming the Severe disability Premium when they were made to claim UC for a change of circumstances. Severe disability premium is only paid to those that live alone or classed as living alone. For the disability premium the rules didn't apply.0

The Severe disability premium criteria is that you must live alone or be classed as living alone and no one must be claiming either carers allowance or carers element of Universal Credit for looking after you. If you were entitled to it then yes, it's possible for that to be backdated. The disability premium is automatically paid when claiming Income Support.1
