Hi guys can anyone give me some advice. I had a pip assessment on 5th June. think I applied sometimes in Jan or Feb. at time we thought I had siatica but after MRI found out I had tumar in spine compressing on my nerves. The thing is that I'm going to get an operation to get it removed and if all goes well I'll just be bed bound after opp. there is risks with operation. My partner is being asked to attend job center once a week and aply for jobs but I really need him to help me. And he can't sine off looking for work until I get pip and only if I get pip and he gets carers, only then is he aloude to stop working to look after me. We have a 8 year old little girl who needs lifts to and from school . Help in house lifts to docs, hospital, phisio chemist. So if I don't get pip I could be sanctioned if my partner doesn't go to work instead of look after me. What do I do if I don't get it my opp is coming up within a few months I think.

I infer that you are claiming UC. Did you report your health condition to UC so that you could be referred for a Work capability Assessment?

hi thank you so much for getting back to me. im on uc and getting full wlca or somthing but my partner still has to go to work my worry is that they say no and the hole appeal , mandontory reconsideration prosses will take that long that ill have had my opp and out of hosp and then they go find my partner a job. what am i going to sdo then.0

its tottaly stupid he should have just been alowed to sine off when i got sined off as i need his help. not have to go through all this for him to help me.0

Have a look on your journal and see if you LCWRA, I'm not that clued up but surely if you get LCWRA then he can get carers Allowance and that should get them off his back.

Nope I've asked already they said only if I get pip. I phoned up today and they said it is now getting a quality check. But I don't have a clue what that is.0

That's correct you have to be awarded pip daily living for someone to be able to claim carers element
Your report will be quality checked or rather in audif this 8s a check that the assessors are completing them correctly and they are selected at random buf it does delay the report going to dwp decision maker
Just to note even if you'd husband was signed off he would still be classed as job seeker until he had a wca
In the event your husband gets a job and you require care then you would need to get a carer0 -
thank you so much. whats the process of CA is that as long as pip

As you're claiming UC with your partner, if you're eventually awarded daily living PIP they won't need to claim CA. They can just claim carers element of UC. If they claim the CA at the same time as UC then the carers allowance is deducted in full from any UC entitlement. Not only that, if they were earning more than £132 per week (£128 per week before April 2022 increase) they won't be able to backdated the carers allowance anyway. There's no earnings limit for Carers element so if they do work in the future it won't affect their carers element in the way it would with carers allowamce. They should make sure that UC know they care for you because otherwise there could be issues with getting this backdated, if you're successfully awarded daily living PIP.0 -
That's good to know yes we where both working before April 2022. Universal credit know my partner is caring for me just now but there is just nothing they can do till I get accepted pip. But that's handy to know so we wouldn't have to apply to cares as we would automatically get cares part on uc and yes it's LCWRA and don't have to look for work just now.0

No, he won't automatically get the carers element if you have a PIP daily living award. He would need to report a change of circumstances and report caring for you, the carers element would then be added to your UC.

It is really positive that you feel better after speaking to them and your claim is now moving. Look forward to hearing your update0 -

You are welcome @elenamckay. It is the very least you deserve. Take the space and time you need and know you only need to share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with.
We are all here for you though if you do want to talk to us about anything, even if that's just as a listening ear. It has been a while since this thread now, how have things been for you since?0
