Hi everyone,
I'm thinking about doing a course to help me to get a Health Care Assistant job at my local hospital, but I'm not sure where to start.
I have a female friend who has 5 sons (her youngest is 1 now I think) and her eldest son is amazing as he helps his mum a lot when he can.
Her middle son is in like a sort of respite type of home I think as she was having trouble with him as he was doing things that were totally out of character for him and she found out (I'm not sure when) that he had a type of cancer (he's currently in remission).
When my friend and her eldest 3 sons lived a couple of streets away from when I lived with my two sisters, brother and our late dad I used to go and visit them for a few hours when her eldest 2 sons were in school (they were in primary school at the time).
On the odd few occasions I even went with her to pick her eldest 2 sons up from school and depending on the weather and if she needed to go, we'd sometimes walk up to our local Tesco extra.
About 6 months or so ago she said that she was going to do an online course through the Open University (I can't remember the name of her course).
I wished her luck in being able to complete her course as she has fibromyalgia, so she paces herself.
I even told her that she was braver than me as I'd gone to apply for a Health and Social Care course through the Open University, but lost my nerve and ended up not going through with it.
I really want to do the course, but my nerves always seem to get the better of me.
I can't even look for a job yet as I was put on limited capability for work about 3 years ago after my dad passed away from terminal lung cancer due to smoking.
I've been told that I have to wait for that to end before I can even look for a job.
How do I build up my confidence and self esteem to be able to apply for an online course through the Open University and not let my nerves get the better of me?

@BrianMcFaddenfan07 hi there, alot of care jobs, train you on the job for qualifications you want, if you read the adverts, it usually says no experience necessarily, but training will be given working towards NVQ qualifications.0

I did a GNVQ Health and Social Care course in my first year in college, but that way back in 1999/2000. I went to college after I'd finished high school. In my first year I a foundation GNVQ Health and Social Care course. Then I did an NVQ Level 1 in retail, but I had to leave college about halfway through my 3rd year and retail level 2 course I had to leave college due to pregnancy related illnesses as I was pregnant with my daughter at the time. I was about 3 months pregnant and I had all day sickness too.
My daughter is 20 this September and I'm 40 in November. I'm the lady in the pink top in my profile pic, the gentleman next to me is my brother (the photo was taken on my brother's and brother-in-law's wedding day which was also mine, my brother's and out 2 sisters mum's and auntie's birthday) the lady who is stood on the other side of my brother is my best friend of over 30 years. She's a mum now too as she's got a lil girl who 2as 2 years old the week before last.
My great-niece and youngest niece are also 2 years old this year.
My great-niece is two sometime next month and my youngest niece is 2 in September.0 -
@Biblioklept I'm on UC and I was told by my current work coach at my local job center that I have to wait until my limited capability for work ends before I can start looking for a job.

I'm not getting anything for my LCW as I was told that I wasn't allowed anything as I was on a job search program when it was actually my fiance who was on a job search program and not me as my fiance was on the work and health program to help him to find a job as he found it hard to find a job due to his dyslexia,, but he's been working as a cleaner for a local clearance shop for about 6 or 7 months now and he enjoys it.0

Neither of us do. I've only been told that I have limited capability for work, but my work coach said that I don't have to do any job search or anything like that until it's finished. She said that I can do things to prepare for it like make sure my CV is up to date and things like that.0
