My husband was awarded pip for the first time in 2020, his award was until july 22.
His review forms hace been with dwp since january and he had text last week to say they will be processing his claim as soon as they can but will continue to pay him until they do, i understand this as i know there are backlogs.
Yesterday i received a letter to say as his pip ends in july 22 my carers allowance will stop.
I assumed this would continue too until his pip is reviewed, do the departments not talk to each other?

Ring PIP and ask them to extend the existing award while they deal with the review. If they refuse contact your MP highlighting the problems DWP delays are causing.0

The letter from carers allowance was probably sent before PIP extended the award. You will need to ring carers allowance on Monday to tell them the PIP is continuing until a decisions been made on the PIP.

The question was about the carers allowance letter saying it's ending this month.0 -
But I think he needs confirmation from PIP of the extension in order to tackle CA. I don't think the PIP can simply be open ended, PIP must have an (extended) end date on the system.0

Which must have happened because of the text.

Here's the following text I received from pip last week;
But I will phone on Monday regarding carers allowance.
We still have your PIP form and will be progressing your review as soon as we can. You may still need an assessment with a health professional. Your PIP will continue to be paid until we review your claim. You only need to contact us if your circumstances change.
