UC has replaced all the old benefits. If his health condition affects his capability to work has he reported his health condition and sent in a fit note from his GP? If he hasn't done this then he should do that. He will need to make sure he continues to send in the fit notes without any gaps until a decisions been made on his claim. It could take several months before a decisions made.In the meantime when claiming UC you're classed as a job seeker until a decisions been made on the work capability assessment. It's a work coaches discretion whether they turn off or reduce work commiments. There's some information here on claiming UC with a health condition. https://www.gov.uk/health-conditions-disability-universal-credit

Tell him to log into his journal and “report a change of circumstances “ from there he can report his health condition. He will then have 7 days to report his fit note.0
