Could someone help me understand Motability please?

We've been considering a Motability car but I have a processing disorder and am finding the information too much to take in.
What is the process? I can't drive but my husband can, can he drive it for me? Are there any restrictions or anything else I need to know?
How do we get one?
Thank you and sorry to sound stupid. I wish everything in life had a step by step guide.

To be eligible you must have a current award of either Enhanced mobility PIP or high rate mobility DLA and you must have at least 12 months remaining on your award.Full details here. https://www.motability.co.uk/#If you do have either of those awards then you can go to a dealer/s of your choice to test drive some vehicles. Once you've decided which one then you can place your order. You will need a copy of your DLA/PIP award and a driving license. Your husband will be able to be a named driver on the vehicle. Some cars have an advance payment that you need to pay before collecting the vehicle. Once you've collected it the money will then be taken from your PIP/DLA every 4 weeks to pay for the car.Leases are for 3 years or 5 years for a WAV.Do be aware though that waiting times for cars are extremely long in most dealers so you could be waiting several months. You can have a look at all the cars available on the website linked above. The vehicle must be used for your purpose. You can ring motability with any other questions you have and they will explain everything to you. I've always found them to be extremely helpful.

How are you doing today?
I hope that poppy123456's comment has helped to simplify that a bit for you. If there's anything at all you're still unsure about, please just let us know.
I also wish there was a simple step-by-step guide for everything!0
