Hi, my name is acanthus! Yesterday I received a random payment marked JSA

I receive PIP and was recently reviewed and moved from income support to ESA. I have now received the ESA for 3 months but yesterday I received a random payment marked JSA. Please can you advise what/why this may be? I had my carer make a spreadsheet for me to monitor payments as they never come in on the same date each month. I find it all so anxiety ridden and overwhelming. Thank you

If your payment day for ESA is usually a Wednesday then the payment you had yesterday would have been made manually, when this happens they usually have JSA next to the payment, instead of the usual EESA. Nothing to worry about. The reason your payments are not paid on the same date is because ESA is a weekly benefit paid fortnightly and PIP is paid 4 weekly, so you'll always receive them on different dates but the same day each time.0

thank you so much for your reply. The confusion is that I received both ESA payments for this month and the JSA was Extra and an amount that neither corresponds to ESA or PIP recurring amounts0

When did you claim ESA? You say you were previously claiming Income Support and then claimed ESA but i'm confused about the because the only ESA that's possible to claim now is New style ESA which is based on NI contributions from working in previous tax years. Claiming Income Support you wouldn't have paid the correct amount. Was it Universal Credit you claim and not ESA?0 -
thank you all so much for your advice.
it was £326 although it was JSA in my account details0 -

it was £326 although it was JSA in my account detailsThat's the cost of living payment amount but very odd why it said JSA next to it. Especially if you've claimed the ESA for 3 months because the only ESA now would be New style ESA, you won't be entitled to the payment while claiming this. Unless you're claiming Universal Credit then you won't be entitled to the CoL payment.0 -
Thank you so much for your information which has been really helpful 🙏🏻0
