@poppy123456 sorry to bring this thread up again.
I found out why my mom is so worried about UC it's because of the horror stories to do with rent were some have been evicted because of rent arrears.
We're in a social housing house and they used to get it 4 weeks in arrears anyway from HB so surely they will understand that if she did claim UC surely they would understand that they would need to wait the 5 weeks until first payment for us to pay them the rent?
Surely they can't evict us? Surely social housing landlords are use to UC by now?
And you know when you said her payment is 4 weeks and 6 days after she makes a claim would I be right in thinking that it would only be a 3 week wait for us since she'll get a last payment from ESA which will last us 2 weeks out of the 5?0 -
UC is paid 1 month in arrears so not much different to what housing benefit was. They will not evict her. When she claims UC her first payment is 1 month and 6 days later. Not 4 weeks and 6 days later. In between that her ESA will continue for 2 weeks.
When she claims UC she can ask for an advance payment but this will need to be repaid back and her future UC payments will be reduced.
Is your sister still working? If so then maybe she can continue to pay the rent until your mums first UC payment is made?Has she claimed UC yet? The sooner she claims the sooner her rent will be paid.0 -
@poppy123456 yes my sister is still working and is still paying the rent for now as her boss hasn't made her decision yet.
We're keeping our fingers crossed she doesn't let her go but were preparing incase.
It doesn't help that reviews have restarted again so she could be reassessed at any moment so just another thing to worry about.
If we do need UC if she is let go we wouldn't do an advanced payment as we'll only just be able to pay for everything so to have any taken off to repay an advance we couldn't do.
Now reviews are being reassessed if she moved to UC her being in the support group will still be honored, she will still get the LCWRA element until she's had an assessment they won't take that away if she needed an assessment when she moves will they now reviews have restarted?0 -
If your mum claims UC now and your sister is under 21 there will be no non dependent deductions.
If she’s 21 and over the deduction will be £77.87/month.
Regarding reviews starting. I’ve searched the internet and I can’t find anything that confirms this is correct. This information is based on one person’s advice. If she claims UC as I advised a few times she will be entitled to LCWRA element from the start of her claim. It’s an ongoing award until a new decision says otherwise.
She will need to send a fit note, which I advised because it’s part of the UC claim with a health condition until the information is sent from ESA.If you’re unsure of anything then please have a read back through the thread.0 -
@poppy123456 I couldn't find anything to say reviews have restarted either would it be online though if they had restarted?0
