I might have to go into hospital will I have to make a new claim or will they just pause it or continue to pay me? How long for? And I understood the pip component will be reduced after 28 days.. but what I can I expect from esa and money?

Your ESA doesn’t stop after 28 days like PIP does.
If you’re in for more than 28 days and your ESA includes the severe disability premium then this will stop after 28 days because of PIP stopping.
PIP isn’t reduced, it will be suspended completely after 28 days. When you come home you just need to ring to tell them you’re out of hospital.

Will esa stop though? How long until esa stops? Many thanks0

As I advised it doesn’t just stop. If you’re in hospital for 1 year then the Enhanced disability premium stops.1

Hi @Lostsoul13
I hope that poppy123456 has been able to clear that up for you a bit! It can all feel a bit confusing, can't it?
I hope that your hospital stay goes well if you do have to go in!0
