Pip decision. How long can it take?

Hi, I’m wondering if anybody can help me in regards to pip.
I had a phone assessment last week, the woman was really understanding and I went into detail as much as I could about how bad my disability now affects me to the point where I can no longer get out of bed without help.
But the main reason I’m on here is to ask how long can it take to get a decision? My friend got her answer in 10 days and received her back payment. The lady said she’ll do all she can to get me the help I need as I’ve sent quite a lot of evidence to back my claim up, but I’m just curious as to how long people are roughly waiting currently? I understand it can take up to 6 weeks for an answer but was just wondering if people have had answers quicker recently.
Thank you

Once the assessment report has been returned to DWP a decision can take between 2-12 weeks. All you can do now is wait. If it’s a first time claim they usually send a text message if you’re successfully awarded.

It's still 2-12 weeks. You will only receive a text message if you are successfully awarded.

Welcome to the community @laney07 :)

I'm sorry that we're not able to give you an exact time frame. It really does vary quite a bit. I hope you're not waiting too long! Please do keep us updated if you're able to.

I'm sorry to hear that your condition's now affecting you to the point that you struggle to get out of bed without help. Do you have help at home to assist you in getting out of bed, and completing daily tasks?

Hi, that’s good! Mine is now affecting my life quite severely so I hope I hear back soon.
The nurse did say at the end she’ll do what she can to get me the right help as I really broke down talking about it, it’s hard opening up about how it affects you isn’t it , someone who claims pip has said that’s positive as a lot of the time the assessors are quite cold.

Obviously I know it isn’t down to the nurse and it’s down to DWP, I just hope for once I have some luck. As it’s now reaching the point where I struggle to do simple tasks on my own. Let me know when u get ur payment if that’s ok x

I am getting my first payment on the 13th October I'm just waiting for the back pay. I found the whole process so hard and distressing hopefully you hear something soon.

It should be soon then. Apparently you get your back payment before the official letter in the post? So should be soon for you hopefully.
Me too, really got myself worked up over it, the build up to the call was the worst for me, I didn’t know what I was going to be asked. I didn’t know if I’d be able to answer questions & I was right, when explaining how badly it affects me I completely broke down and let it all out, I felt ridiculous afterwards.
Thank you, I hope so too

Hello, just to let you know my timeline, initial phone call 6th June, telephone assessment 26th July, letter 2 weeks after to say they have all info. I’m still waiting, and I called on Thursday to be told I am still with the case manager and no decision as yet.
