Hi I'm new here and this has probably been asked before, I'm trying to get carers allowance for my wife but on the website it says universal credit isn't one of the benefits that qualify to apply we've tried to get pip but were refused and the appeal was also refused, and the jobcentre says I can still apply. Can anyone advise, we're planning to reapply for pip but it takes months.

For someone to be able to claim either carers allowance or carers element of UC for looking after you, you must be claiming a qualifying disability benefit such as PIP daily living. As you're not currently receiving this then you will not be able to claim either of those benefits.

Are you claiming UC. There is an element on UC that is an additional amount for a partner. If you are on UC you can contact your work coach to ask them.

Carers element can't be claimed because there's no disability benefit award.
