Very new to all this. Can someone throw some light on these questions.
First question.
If one is getting PIP and is on universal credit as a couple(not receiving yet). If they apply for the mobility car, does any benefit gets reduced in any way.
Second questions.
If their monthly outgoings are higher then they get. Can the wife who is a carer for her husband find some part-time work to make ends meet.
Third questions.
If they live in a shared ownership property can they apply for rent reduction and can they get any help towards the interest part of a repayment mortgage.
Forth question.
What about council tax.
Thanks in Advance.

To join the motability scheme you must have an Enhanced mobility PIP award, otherwise you can't join. It doesn't affect your UC. Your PIP payments will reduce because all of your mobility payment will stop being paid to you because they will need to pay motability for your vehicle. See link. https://www.motability.co.uk/how-it-works/allowances/
Yes your wife can work. If you're claiming UC your wife will need to report a change of circumstances on your journal and tell them she's working. If you have children on your claim or you have either the work allowance. This means either of you can receive a certain amount of earnings each month before the 55% deductions apply. If you don't have the work allowance then earnings received will reduce your UC by 55%.
For shared ownership you can claim for help with the rent part through UC. You will need proof of your liability to pay rent, such as a tenancy agreement. For help with the mortgage you would need to be claiming a qualifying mean tested benefit such as UC for 9 consecutive months with zero earnings. Even then it's a loan and will need to be repaid back if you sell the property. See link. https://www.gov.uk/support-for-mortgage-interest
Council Tax reduction can be claimed from your Local Authority because it's not part of UC. https://www.gov.uk/apply-council-tax-reduction

I'm a little confused. You mention that you are considering a Motability car. If you take one on your PIP Mobility award will be taken off you to pay for it. Then you mention that you may find that your outgoings will be more than your income. Why then are you thinking about having to lose part of your PIP award which will make your finances worse?

    Hi Racyguy
Hence my opening remark ‘very new to all this’ I have no clue as to how it all works. I now know that will be taken off the Pip.
    next question.
if you are on enhanced Pip. How much is taken off (Deducted) is there a set amount or is it on the vehicle you choose.
    Thanks in advance.

As I advised the majority of the vehicles are the full mobility amount. (£258 every 4 weeks) Some also require you to pay and advance payment before you collect the vehicle.
You choose the vehicle you want by visiting a dealer of your choice and order the car. You can see all the vehicles and cost of each one here https://www.motability.co.uk/find-a-vehicle/#car-search-tab
Remember you need Enhanced mobility award, not daily living.
There’s lots more information on the motability website.
