Hello just asking for a friend they had the assessment today but they are also caring for someone and receive carers allowance if they are awarded LCWRA would that mean any deductions from carers allowance would be taken out and they would be in arrears and have to pay back?  Carers role started in march and received carers allowance and health conditions reported on UC in Jan

Carers allowance is deducted in full from their UC entitlement and doesn’t affect anything if they are found to have LCWRA.
Their UC should include the carers element as well. If found to have LCWRA then the same person can’t receive both elements. Instead they will receive the higher element, which would be LCWRA.
If there’s any money owed they would be paid the difference between both elements.

If they are receiving Carers Allowance that should already be being deducted from the UC.

Oh yes sorry they were deducting carers allowance already but they have the carers element which started from march up until now how much arrears do they have to pay back if awarded LCWRA

The arrears will be calculated to take account of what they have already received. UC will calculate every month taht is affected and will then the amount now due against the amount previously paid and the arrears now paid will be the difference. Note that the old statements will be replaced by new statements so if you want a record you need to download the old statements now.
