Free car tax query

Hi everyone, I hope someone can help me with this query.. Yesterday I taxed my car for the year, £180. Today I received a letter from DWP awarding me enhanced rate of PIP for mobility. They say I’m entitled to free car tax. Is there any way I can claim a refund? Or is it too late? Any help would be much appreciated!

You will need to take all of your documents to your local Post office, including the exemption certificate which you should have received with your PIP award letter. Once the exemption is applied and your V5 is changed to "disabled" then you will be refunded the money you've paid. Please also be aware that the vehicle must only be used for your purpose. Full details in both links. https://www.gov.uk/get-vehicle-tax-exemption-disability

Hi poppy,If I may.....The disabledmotoring site states "You will also need to get a new certificate if either the registered keeper or the vehicle changes."I understand why the certificate is needed, but I don`t understand why a new certificate is required every time the car is changed. Is the number on the certificate associated with a specific vehicle and therefore cannot be used for a different vehicle?Andy

@Cartini it’s because each certificate of entitlement is for 1 vehicle only.0
