I've been suffering with depression, anxiety, and agoraphobia. Might I be entitled to PIP?

I’m new here. I have been suffering with severe depression, anxiety, and agoraphobia for 5 years and I am wondering if I might be entitled to pip?

PIP isn't awarded based on any diagnosis, it's how those conditions affect you against the PIP descriptors. As i have no idea exactly how your conditions affect you i can't tell you if you'll score enough of points needed for an award. You can see the descriptors here. https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/Global/Migrated_Documents/adviceguide/pip-9-table-of-activities-descriptors-and-points.pdfThere's more information here. https://pipinfo.net/

Good morning @lindelle welcome to our great group,
we are a very friendly bunch of normal people with our own health problems.
I hope you are well today - when you are ready have a look around the site, we have lots going on that you can get involved in, if you wish. Any problems just ask, some one is bound to be on line to help you out.
As far as pip is concerned, have you had chance to look at the form, i personally would say go for it, it can be a stressful process, have you anyone with you that can help support you with it ?1 -
Thank you 🙏 for replying. I’m debilitated by my condition. I have completely cut myself off apart from having one good friend. I’ll look into it but it’s a bit overwhelming. I feel so incredibly alone, that’s why I have joined today. X0

@lindelle Take some time to read the descriptors. The waiting times are huge so that’s one thing to be aware of but any arrears if successful are backdated to the date you phoned to claim. It can also provide access to many other benefits and services.1

Bless you @lindelle this group has been the best thing i have joined on line, i have made lots of friends, we can have a laugh as well, no need to be lonely now. There is lots of advice on the PIP process and we have some very good members, who out of the goodness of their own hearts, know all the in's and out's of the claims system. If you get stuck on any of the things on the PIP form just ask on another thread/chat and i bet one of the experts, like Poppy will help you out.
When your ready have a play and check out the site, we have lots going on from threads/chats/debates/games/hobbies/arts, please don't worry about joining in or asking for any advice about anything. I'm nearly always in the virtual coffee lounge, which is under categories, that's a good place to start, or have a look under recent discussions, to see what the others are chatting about.
I'm sure you will be greeted by other members, as the site wakes up.
I look forward to seeing you around.1 -
Thank you 🙏 so much. For some reason I’ve burst into tears. Probably because you’ve been kind 🙏. I don’t normally talk to anyone about my problems.0

Ahhh have a big hug of me @lindelle i can understand you getting upset, it must be a relief for you that after taking your first step on the scope forum, to find we are all human with our own demons, and just talk normal darling.
I find one of the best things about the group, is it's not face to face, so no fears of judgement and deff no prejudice,
When your ready come and join us, honestly there is nothing to fear, i will look out for you in the coffee lounge, when i am back online, got to start getting ready in a min for my day, of pottering round the house, now my meds have kicked in ha ha, that's another thing i forgot to mention, i find the site a great distraction as well.

A warm welcome to the community from me too @lendelle
As the others have said, we're all here to support you, and there's usually someone around for a chat.
Are you receiving any professional support to help you manage your mental health conditions? I know it can be really difficult to access the right kinds of support sometimes.
Is your good friend able to offer you emotional or practical support where needed?1 -
Hi Tori, I seem to be on an endless waiting list. Thank you 🙏 for reaching out, it means a lot 🙏0

I'm glad to see you're finding the online community so supportive @lindelle it's good to have place to go to when we need a chat, advice or information. I hope you enjoy spending time here.
It's positive you've got a good friend as well, how long have you been friends, if you don't mind me asking?1 -
@Alex_Scope I’ve known her about 2 years. She’s a very busy lady but she’s been very kind to me.0

I'm sure she appreciates your friendship too @lindelle, 2 years is a long time1
