PIP Hospital passed 28 days
Hiya,
I was hoping someone on here has gone through this or knows the correct information. I recently was admitted into hospital for 30 days, I had 4 days at home and then was re admitted for 3 days.
I’m trying to work out how much I will be getting for PIP and the information available is conflicting. Some websites are stating that both admission date and discharge date are classed as “out” hospital days, some are saying the both count as days “in” hospital and some are saying that only the discharge is classed as “out” days..
Does anyone know what the real answer is? 🤣

If you go back into hospital within 28 days, these are called linking days, which all count as days in hospital. See link https://www.turn2us.org.uk/Benefit-guides/Going-into-Hospital-and-benefits/Benefits-that-stop-being-paid-if-you-go-into-hospi0

Days of discharge and admission do not count as days in hospital (in other words, only whole days count).LydiaRED1996 said:Some websites are stating that both admission date and discharge date are classed as “out” hospital days, some are saying the both count as days “in” hospital and some are saying that only the discharge is classed as “out” days..

Thank you so much, so in total (both admissons combined) it was 34 days. Take away four (discharge + admission) you are left with 30, so is it correct that I have lost 2 days of PIP?0

You have now said 4 days for the second stay, in your opening post you said 3.LydiaRED1996 said:Thank you so much, so in total (both admissons combined) it was 34 days. Take away four (discharge + admission) you are left with 30, so is it correct that I have lost 2 days of PIP?
If your initial post in which you said 30 days and 3 days included the days of admission and discharge then the hospital stays for PIP are 28 plus 1 = 29 days.
I assume that DWP have told them about the hospital admissions, they don’t know unless you tell them.0 -
Hiya, sorry I’m dyslexic and numbers are the things I mix up. DWP do know I told them immediately, the second admission was three days Tuesday to Thursday.0

So you need to tell them you have now been discharged.LydiaRED1996 said:Hiya, sorry I’m dyslexic and numbers are the things I mix up. DWP do know I told them immediately, the second admission was three days Tuesday to Thursday.0 -
You don't need to apologise @LydiaRED1996, it's easily done
And it can all get a bit confusing! 0
