I can imagine receiving a letter like this out of the blue could be quite worrying. I'm not sure why you might have been invited to a compliance interview.
Have you verified with the DWP that this is a genuine letter? It's important to be vigilant, as some people do unfortunately impersonate the DWP to scam people.
Do you mind me asking what benefit/s you claim? This may help our members to offer you advice and support based on their own experiences.0 -
It’s a perfectly normal interview which is just checking the information you have given is correct. An example of what they might ask is about savings and the number of accounts you have although what you might get asked is just speculation.

Thanks for a reply i have been claiming IR esa since 2011 and succefully claimed pip enhanced on both rates since 2020. My claim for esa has been a single one up untill i added my partner in 2019 when he moved in properly. But that's the only changed ive ever had. Apart from when i got moved into the support group when my claim for pip was successful in 2020. I then had a letter from esa to say id been moved to the support group from work related activity group. And that was over a year ago?0

They are doing these mainly as a catch up since lockdown probably prompted from you reporting the change of your partner moving in
Nothing to worry about0 -
You can ring the number on the letter and they maybe able to give you some idea what it's regarding.

Both were requiring information of the amount of money that I received from my private pensions for each week/month from 2014 to 2019 and the second one for the same reason from 2019 to 2022.
They accused me of failing to notify a change of circumstances in both cases. Yes, it was true, I failed to report the amount of tax deducted from all of them on a monthly basis.
I was fined £50 for each investigation but never had to pay the overpayment back (a) the Tribunal ruled that they could not collect it for the first one and (b) the overpayment for the second was below the limit that they could collect it back - £65.

Is there anything you could do that usually helps with your panic attacks or anxiety @b93?0

If they wanted you to take.anythung they would have put it in the letter
Unless the interview is under caution which it would state in the letter then it isn't an investigation
As poppy advised give them a call to put your mind at rest
Ignore the scare mongering that is a completely different situation mentioned.above3 -
Ok thanks all i called the number 37 times in half an hour believe it or not bobody answered. So my partner says to stop over thinking youl b fine but iv always been the person that needs to know. Like if it said in the letter were calling to discuss so and so id be fine but it doesn't. Its the not knowing thats killing me honestly feel like running in front of a car right now with my depression. They know im a vulnerable person and my mental health is all over and with them just saying their calling me and to have certain documemts at hand and all i see is it cud b fraud im like **** is going in right now??0

The letters they send are standard letters, they never include any details of what the interview is about. It's likely to be just a random check, which does happen. I know it's easier said than done but try not to worry, if you've done nothing wrong then you have nothing to worry about.

Ok so had the compliance interview and it wasnt as bad as i thought. He just said it was to update the system was on the call for 19minutes. But towards the end he did mention a tax return my partner had done but i explaind that was for a previous year before i added him on the claim. He said thats sounds just about rite and i will recieve my payments as normal. So im hoping that's the end of that.1
