Good Afternoon
can I firstly say what a fantastic site this is and so helpful
i currently get universal credit £197 a month
contribution ESA £117.60 a week
PIP £505.40 every 4 weeks
what my question is why does UC award me £334 a month UC
£354 a month LWCRA
Then deduct the £509 a month of ESA
why award the £354 if you never actually get the full amount this seems strange or am I missing something
Thank you

Your ESA is New style ESA which is always deducted in full from any UC entitlement. Your overall benefit entitlement will remain the same, even if you didn't claim the ESA.You are still receiving your full benefits entitlement. Your UC will include £334 for standard single person element (over 25) then the £354 is the LCWRA element. The LCWRA element is part of UC.Your ESA deduction of £509 is calculated as £117.60 x 52 divided by 12 to get the monthly amount. If it wasn't deducted then you would be receiving the payment twice.0
