@jackieann3 , as Wendy41 mentions heat pads help me considerably, also if you have a bath, a hot bath with a cupful of Epsom Salts and a cupful of Baking Soda for about half an hour, this is relaxing which is good for anxiety and pain, this has helped me a lot with increasing back pain this week.

@jackieann3 , I'm sorry about that, I'm able to at the moment luckily but worry that one day I can't or will get stuck.
Hang on in there, you will find something that helps, the other thing I have come across lately is Hemp Seed Oil, I have been adding that to meals (don't heat it), I don't know if it's helping or not but I think it could be, it's a good anti-inflammatory, relaxant and it's a good source of omega 3s but healthier than olive oil, I've been getting it in Sainsbury's over £6 a bottle so not cheap but good.

Hi jackieann3 I do sympathise, with you I've suffered for about 20 years have been through many types of antidepressants and painkillers over the years to be honest I've not found any that really help, I've been under Basingstoke pain team, 2 years ago I had botox jabs in my back actually made things worse, I to get horrible feelings through my body, I think the only thing that did help was mindfulness, I went with a group using relaxation technics at the end of the course we were all given a cd covering the relaxation used in the group, I should use the cd more than I do as it dose help, I was referred to the group by my gp, hope you start to feel better soon it isn't nice regards Pete x

Hello Pete skinner and thank you for your comment and sorry to hear of your suffering, I hear a lot of people who have had so many medications and treatment and still in the same position it makes you wonder what it can be sometimes and why nothing works, I know that sounds a bit silly because we know our problem but nothing seems to help its so frustrating isn't it , but I do listen to a lot of relaxation videos on YouTube but sometimes I can't relax enough for them to help me but sometimes they do, I rely on mind technics more than tablets they just make me ill and don't do any good anyway and side effects affect me every time I try something else, but I will definitely have a word with my doctor about referring me to something like thank you for telling me, I do wish you well x

Not a problem I only have my daughter to talk to and she gets fed up with hearing me go on about it, I am sorry you are suffering so, it is nice to talk to someone that really understands, occasionally my back muscles go into spasm, lock up, that happened last week, I had real problems trying to move, but its back to the normal pain now, I went for a massage a while ago it didn't help, my ex used to do it very lightly more like a tickle on my back, sounds silly but it helped, try to get into the relaxing videos, when I listen to that relaxation cd I soak in the bath then lay on my bed turn lights out and put everything out of my head close eyes and listen, I hope it works for you x

It definitely is good to talk to people who knows what your talking about and understand and I get fed up talking about it so I know other people must do well its more moaning I think I do moan a lot only because I'm so fed up ,yes mine is partly muscle and part bones I don't know what causes the worst pain to be honest, oh I would love to have a massage but I cant lay on my back or my front ,I've slept sitting up for nearly a year now because I had shoulder replacement last December after a fall and that was the only way I could sleep then just started to get on the mend then woke up 1 day and couldn't move with my back, so I can't lay flat because I can't get up again the pain is terrible,  but anyway we could go on and on but I do get very depressed because I was such an active person and now I'm like an old women, you take care and hope you don't have anymore spasms very painful and yes I will watch videos and try and relax x

Sounds like you are really going through it jackie I take it there's no way you can lay down to listen to the videos, can you not lay on your back with knees bent so you can relax ? Or on your side, I had bath and listened to cd I do feel a little better, I'm just trying to work out a way you could do the same, I live near petersfield hampshire, what part of the country are you x

OK maybe  if you can relax enough you could slide down in the bed just a little bit each night, I find if I relax in my mind my body will relax losen your arms and legs let go, I expect you have tried this but give it a go, relax your body just a little each night, concentrate on your breathing slow your breathing down close your eyes and relax I hope this might help a little  take care x

This is my problem the more I slide down the harder and more painful it is to get out of bed unfortunately, if it was just my lower back problem I might be able to do that but because of my shoulder injury I've only got my other arm yo work with bit since I hurt my ribs which was on my good side I can't use that side much either it's just a nightmare at the moment the more I'm stretching the more pain I'm in ,I see my msk man at the end of the month so will see what he says because its all holding my physio up of doing the exercises I'm ment to be doing its just been a vicious circle plus my upper back is so stiff it's as hard as a rock, I know I will stiffen up because of sitting down a lot with my heat pad but it's not a pain I can work through but I do get up and down as much as I can to keep moving but I know it's not enough but I havnt much choice at the moment and what with these horrible feelings of anxiety too that last most the day been very difficult to get motivated, so I will just carry on doing what I can for now till I can get some more advice at my appointment it's just been unfortunate I've hurt my ribs now as well its holding everything up ,think I need to go to the vet haha x

Hia, I feel for you, I really do. I don't have chronic back pain I have oa in knees and that's bad enough, heavens knows what your going thru, I also suffer with anxiety and have flashbacks due to an event which happened to me last year.,,, I know its a totally different pain you have but relating to your anxiety, I have always been against taking tablets but I was so bad I tried sertraine, and after 3 months I can honestly say they have reduced my symptoms by about 50 per cent... They make me tired so I take before bed, I understand you don't want anti d, s but I had to put it out there, I was really against them once, but I was desperately mentally scarred,  another help I find is scent,,, I know it sounds potty but putting different smells around the house, ie air fresheners or joss sticks etc,,  I'm just trying to help, I wish you lots of luck getting the right help, and stay strong xx

Hello ollyoyster and thank you for your kind words, I wish I could build up enough courage to just try the meds but it's a fear I've always had and that's any tablets just have never wanted them but I've had to have painkillers for this pain but only paracetamol and ibuprofen, the doctor gave me stronger one's in the beginning and it took me 2 days to try them but I was in so much pain I had to but they didn't touch it so I went back to ibuprofen and paracetamol, and they really upset my stomach ( naproxen) as much as I can't stand these physical feelings I'm getting and horrible  thoughts I know its being in constant pain for nearly a year that's caused it so I'm hoping at my next appointment something will get sorted out if not I may have to have a talk to the doctor and give something else a try ,also these antidepressants take so long to take effect don't they and I always worry about horrible side effects, yes that's a good idea with the smells like lavender or calming smells thank you for that been very helpful, thank you hope your still not in too much pain and carry on feeling better than you did x
