Hello. I've got my phone assessment for PIP next week. I applied 4 months ago and I'm now getting really stressed about the assessment. I suffer from really painful joints and spine. Still waiting for a diagnosis. It effects every aspect of my life and I'm worried I won't effectively get my problems across.

If you kept a copy of the form you filled in then you should have a read of that before the assessment. Some people find it helpful to write notes before the assessment so they have something to refer to during it.You can have someone with you during the assessment and put the phone onto loud speaker. You should make sure your phone is fully charged too because the assessment can last anywhere from 20-120 minutes, sometimes longer. They will ask you various questions about your health condition and how it affects you. Try not to answer with a simple yes or no and try to give as much detail as possible.Once the report is returned to DWP a decision can take between 2-12 weeks.0

@joanna69 Hello and a warm welcome from me to our online community, how are you doing today?
I understand you being stressed about your upcoming telephone assessment. It's a very common feeling and if you were to browse our PIP, DLA and AA category you would see so many people have felt like you do now. To make it that bit easier, take heed of Poppy's brilliant advice and also have a gander of this PIP assessment help sheet from Citizen's Advice which has a basic overview of things to remember for the day itself.
Try not to put too much pressure on yourself though. If the outcome isn't what you expect, then we are here to help should you need to pursue a mandatory reconsideration. All you can do is speak honestly about the impact of your conditions on your ability to complete the discussed activities, remembering where possible to give examples from your everyday life of times when you have struggled.
If you need any support in the run up, give us a virtual bell. Otherwise, calm relaxing thoughts - we'll help you whatever happens.0
