Going from UC to new style ESA

Hey all, hopefully this will be a fairly easy question to answer
If I was to move from UC LWCRA to new style ESA, would I automatically get put in the support group, or would I need another work capacity assessment?

I’m considering moving for a few reasons - supported permitted work, different NI credits. I’m aware that the amount of money I would get if put in the support group works out the same as being on LCWRA, as the difference would be taken out my UC.

You won’t be able to claim New Style ESA unless you’ve worked and paid the correct amount of NI contributions in tax years April 2019 to March 2021.
Although permitted work rules don’t apply to UC you do have the work allowance which means a certain amount of earnings each month are ignored before the deductions apply.1 -
You should be automatically put into the Support Group from the 14th week without a new assessment.
In order to claim new style ESA you will need to meet the NI requirements. See
https://www.entitledto.co.uk/help/employment-and-support-allowance-contribution-based(Refers to contribution based ESA but the requirements are the same)1 -

A new ESA claim is for new style ESA which is a contribution based benefit. It is not part of UC and will (under current regulations) continue alongside UC.Beejesus said:What's the point of going on ESA if all ESA is moving on UC for all applicants?
Did I get something wrong? Is it even possible to go on ESA from UC now- when moving applicants already started and is expected to finish by 2024?It is the old ESA which is ending and income based ESA claimants will need to move to UC.0
