Hi just wondering if anyone has been successful or n claiming pip without medical evidence I’ve asked my doctor but he said he would provide if DWP asked for reports or I would have to pay I requested the form back in September it arrived but I thought I’d leave it until I get to too see psychiatrist and get some therapy and see if they would help me with some evidence but I’m still currently on the waiting list to see them and have been for months there’s a back log apparently due to covid

so I had a txt message saying I had a pip assessment on the 24.10.22 which I’ve just had Monday but I didn’t even send the form back but they said they was going ahead with it anyway the assessment lasted around 1 hour 10 minutes she seemed very understanding and caring but I have read some of these
assessor lie and twist things and say you have said stuff you haven’t

I have called DWP Wednesday see if they received my report back said no so I contacted the company who done my assessment they said it’s going through some final checks and DWP will message me once they receive the report is this normal ??

I doubt I will be awarded anything tbh but I was just wondering if anyone has ever been awarded pip without sending in medical evidence

Yes, it's definitely possible to be awarded PIP without medical evidence. It's not that useful unless it clearly states exactly how your conditions affect you against the PIP descriptors.
If there's a mental health marker on your file then the rules can be relaxed for returning the form and they can just go ahead with the assessment without it. The only problem that can happen with this is that you wouldn't have given any extra information other than what you said during the assessment. They very rarely contact anyone for any evidence.
Sometimes the report isn't always returned to DWP straight away. If it's chosen for audit it can delay it being returned. If this happens, it's nothing to worry about, it just means they are checking the assessor did their job correctly.
Once the report is returned it can take between 2-12 weeks for a decision.

Thank you yeah I did call them and they said it’s going through some checks so I was unsure what was happening as I don’t know much about pip I didn’t have time to send any evidence in
but I have read that it’s best if you do have medical evidence but then I’ve also read People scoring no points with loads off evidence and then people scoring points and being awarded so suppose its just a waiting game see what happens
I did wanna request a copy of the report that’s why I called but think I’ll just leave it now as don’t know when they will even receive it now

Requesting the report isn't always the best idea because it often causes more needless anxiety.

They are chosen at random. To be honest you only started your claim in September so that’s extremely quick up to now.

Hi just wondering I’ve had a telephone assessment Monday 24.20.22
i requested the form back in September but I didn’t fill it in as I’m waiting to see
     physiatrist And waiting on therapy
so I thought I’d leave it until I can get some medical evidence but pip still went a head with the assessment
so I haven’t filled forms or even sent any medical evidence over the women I spoke to over the phone doing my assessment did seem nice and she listened to me but I have heard not to trust them as they can say things you haven’t said I know I won’t be awarded anything as I haven’t sent no evidence in I was just wondering if anyone has been awarded before without any evidence my Gp won’t do a report as he said they only tend to do this if the DWP request this
I called DWP Wednesday 2 days after my assessment they still haven’t received so I rang the company that carried out my assessment apparently it’s hung through some final checks and DWP will notify me once they have received this which os giving me more anxiety I’ve never done anything like this before so it’s all new to me

@Louiseee38 Hello there and welcome to our online community. How are you today?

Just to let you know, I've merged your comments onto one thread to make it easier for you and others to reply to and keep track of  :)

I hope Poppy's responses have helped quell your anxiety about your PIP application. At this point it's a waiting game I'm afraid, so try and distract yourself from thinking about it and we'll help you with anything else that crops up further down the line.

Also, please try not to take too much heed of negative things you read online as they can cause unnecessary anxiety and aren't always the most valid sources of information. I know it's easily done and I've googled things and got myself in a state too before(!), but try to stick to official, trustworthy sources where possible to keep yourself reliably informed.

Take care and please keep us updated with how you get on.

I do know someone who has got full PIP and lower mobility without any paperwork, not sure how long for now covid restrictions are being reduced, I have known her all her life, and know all about, she has no consultants reports, doctors or anything, she has claimed Cerebral Palsy (self diagnosed), should she get a face to face, I would expect her to lose everything, lockdown helped a lot, in her case.

    Yes it happened with me.

When I applied I didn't send any medical records it was all about what I had written in my form and my assessment.

I was awarded first time, I had never applied before, but in my 20's I did recieve hrc and hrm dla for a very long time until I stopped claiming it.

It was straight forward and the lady assessor was spot on with her assessment and the decision maker was good at his evaluation.

@ChiChi that’s good glad you had a good outcome suppose you only read all the negative stories regarding pip
the women who don’t my assessment was very understanding and took her time with me lasted around 1 hour 10 mins as I didn’t fill in the form so she was just going through all of the questions which took longer to do she said

Count the numbers next to the boxes which have been ticked. If you get at least 8 points in each element you will recieve standard and 12 points or more enhanced rate. But this is dependent on the DM's decision
