Hi, my pip is claim ends 17.11.23
I therefor cannot tax my car on 1st dec! I am 2 weeks out 🤦🏻♀️😞
this means I cannot drive my car at all as I don’t have the money to tax it this near to Christmas and I also live in a ULEZ zone and my car isn’t compliant. Has anyone else had this problem? I will now be housebound all Christmas 🥺 I am so stressed

I don't understand why you can't tax it because you have a year left of your PIP award. You can also tax it for 6 months. Do you have standard mobility PIP or Enhanced?

Hi, because my entitlement has to be “valid” for a full year, hence valid when the tax expires 1st dec 23. I can’t tax the car under PIP for 6 months under PIP either only a year. I’ve spoken to both DWP & DVLA both unhelpful. I receive enhanced mobility and my car is currently classed disabled. DWP have said my award will probably be extended again 32 weeks before my award is due to end as reviews are so far behind. So therefor I will have no hope of having a “full year” of entitlement 😞0

Ah ok, i didn't realise that. I've never claimed free road tax through my mobility award because i have a motability vehicle and all that is done for you when you collect the car.0

That's misleading. Even if you don't drive on public roads you can't just not pay car tax. You have to pay car tax unless you officially declare and register the car as off road (SORN).Ayaanhr12 said:In the UK, if you don't pay your car tax (also known as Vehicle Excise Duty, or VED), you can't legally drive your car on public roads.
