Hi everybody ☺️
I'm considering moving from England to Isle of Man, to be closer to my family who live there.
I'm single and retired. Benefits I currently receive are....
State Pension.
Pension Credit Guaranteed.
Pips Mobility, higher rate.
Pips Care, standard rate.
I'm also renting and hope to do same in Isle of Man, So also claiming Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support.
So my question is would these benefits be affected by the move.
Thanks for any advice.
Have a good day

Hello there @PheasantPlucker and welcome to the community, thanks for your query.

That's a good question, from what I can find after a quick search on the Isle of Man Government website, and national insurance contributions won't be affected by the move. Where it details about moving from the UK it explains:

Because of the Social Security Agreement between the Isle of Man and the UK, any National Insurance Contributions you have paid in the UK will count towards working age contributory benefits in the Island, such as Incapacity Benefit, Contribution-based Jobseeker’s Allowance and Bereavement Support Payment, in the same way as if they had been paid in the Isle of Man. Similarly, National Insurance Contributions you pay in the Isle of Man will count towards working age contributory benefits in the UK.

As regards state pensions, National Insurance Contributions paid in the Isle of Man help you build up entitlement to an Isle of Man state pension, which is separate to the UK’s state pension. National Insurance Contributions paid in the UK count towards the UK state pension.

Some Manx benefits depend on you being able to satisfy certain residential conditions – for example, the IoM residential condition for income-related benefits.

There are a number of categories on the side of the page I've linked above, relating to different types of benefits and financial support. I hope this is helpful for you.

Please let us know if we've missed anything, and keep us up to date with how everything goes :)

My family are based in Ballasalla and Just outside Douglas.
If relocation is not an option,  as many of replies have suggested. Due to loss of benefits,
Then maybe more of suitable option for me, is to visit every 6 weeks.  I.e. School holidays.
    Thanks for your input 👍

I think your question was answered correctly on another forum. The Isle of Man has always been an expensive place to visit let alone live there.
