Fabulous helpful post, thank you. As someone who suffers with “invisible illness, ME being one, and having a terrible experience with an assessment a few years ago, this really hits home. Again a really helpful post as my partner is currently in the process of claiming PIP.2

@lou54321 It sounds really difficult that you had a terrible experience with an assessment a few years ago. Would you like to tell us more about this?
I can hear that your partner is currently in the process of claiming PIP. How are you finding navigating this at the moment?

Thank you so much for this advice. It was just what I needed to hear today! This morning I received my first PIP application for M.E rejected. It took so much time and energy that I didn't have to start with to complete the form. I found the PIP phone interview (1 and half hours!) exhausting and terrifying. When I read their report this morning, I just felt like giving up. Now, I'm thinking, round 2. You have given me a big boost so thankyou!

It can indeed be very disheartening, but the appeals process is there for you to eventually get your voice heard. Please do check out our advice article on appealing benefit decisions here: Appealing a benefits decision | Disability charity Scope UK
