Morning all, does anyone have any experience of applying for LCWRA part of Universal Credit?
I applied back in October and they have received my form. Heard nothing since so just wondering on time scale.
My current fit note from GP lasts until mid February. Also does anyone know if this is backdated to any specific time period of successful?

There are long delays with work capability assessments so you could be waiting several months at least. If found to have LCWRA the extra money is paid from the 4th month after you reported your health condition. You must continue to send the fit notes without any gaps until a decision is made on your claim.

Everyone is aware that LCWRA re-assessments are substantially delayed,my review date set by the court tribunal was anytime after Aug25th this year, after an at least two year review,so mine is over 3½ months delayed, simple question.
Does anybody have a date previous to Aug 25th that they are waiting on a reassessment, just to gauge a time period.1 -
@TerryG I hope you get an answer and an idea of timescale. Good luck to you0

I applied for LCWRA at the end of August and I had my assessment this week (unsuccessful).0

If you're not happy with that decision you can challenge it by requesting the Mandatory Reconsideration (MR) within 1 month of the date of the decision. Were you found fit for work or LCW?

@TerryG my review was recommended to be after Feb 2022 awarded by tribunal and I've not had anything
Reassessment are still suspended and no mention of when they will restart and even then there has been mentioned they will prioritise those who's review is 5 years or more overdue0 -
Hi Jane,
Thank you for answering the question,I bet like myself you are like a cat on a hot tin roof with the question,When will I have it,which does your nut in.
Was that your first re-assessment Jane,or have you had a couple, you would like to think that the tribunal being in our favours may carry weight in the reassessments, especially if you have a chronic, ongoing,we can't repair you condition, that will not get better, but worsen.0 -
My last review was just as we went into lockdown in 2020. I had a paper based assessment for the 2nd time and review was in the medium term as always. No idea how long that is because i've never rang ESA to ask and i've been claiming it for coming up to 10 years. I think i've had 3 reviews over those years. While i'm waiting for the next review i put it to the back of my mind, if i didn't i wouldn't eat, sleep or doing anything else through worry.Going to Tribunal for your current award doesn't really carry anymore weight than if the decision was made by DWP.At least when claiming UC you will know when it's time for your review because you'll receive a letter on your journal telling you that you're being referred for the WCA. Shortly after that you'll receive the form in the post. When claiming ESA all we have is a lovely surprise in the post when that dreaded form comes through the letter box.0

@TerryG it was my first claim not had a reassessment.
Hoping I don't have to go to tribunal next time. The panel were astounded it had gone to them
I'm an amputee full time wheelchair user and other conditions. My leg isn't going to grow back !! I am also now registered as severely vision impaired and that won't change
But I'm still expecting I might have a battle till they see me in wheelchair being pushed and using a white cane
I don't really give it much thought tbh mo point yet till they start reviews again0 -
LOL Won't grow back, had to giggle Jane, surely you must come under the category of where nothing is going to improve,(sadly),so don't need to keep having assessments, there are certain conditions that automatically get it,but the list is not exhausted, came in in 2017.
They said I can use a wheelchair to get around, yet 6mths previous my OT said he can't due to arthritis of the hands and back in a report, that obviously wasn't read.My mental health worker said that she used to be an advocate, and her words, reports, letters, etc are not fully looked at until the tribunal reads them.Like yours, the Judge said I've demonstrated consistency in repeated reports, yearly updates from my GP that are consistent, why have you brought this person to court.
The DWP are wasting thousands in reassessments of people who are not going to get any better, after a period of time, say 5yrs,2 reassessments, they should do a light touch assessment.Mine is chronic arthritis in multiple joints.0
