Severe disability premium inquiry

Hello! I’ve been on PIP since November 2021 and ESA since 2017 due to illness and disability. When I first got pip I had a text about SDP from the dwp but ignored it as I thought I couldn’t get it as I live alone. Recently I became away that the person I live with, my mother, is disregarded as she’s been in daily living pip since 2016 or so.
I’ve belatedly applied for SDP a couple of weeks ago. However, I received carers allowance FOR my mother. I care for her as I’m able to do things she can’t despite being disabled. I’m younger and we help each other. Wasn’t an issue when I went through the pip process although I was asked to explain, and my explanation was accepted. No one claims carers allowance for me however. On the online guidance and guidelines it only says that nobody must be claiming carers for yourself, nothing about claiming carers to care for someone else.
Will this be an issue at all? I’ve found it rather confusing. Many thanks in advance for any info and advice.

Nobody is claiming CA for you. You are claiming CA for looking after your mum. Therefore you are eligible for SDP. It should be backdated to when your PIP award started.
Can you confirm - do you actually get paid CA separately from your ESA?0 -

Neitiznot said:Yes, I’m being paid carers allowance separately to ESA. I get income related ESA fortnightly, I believe I’m in the support group and I haven’t had to send a sick note for a good few years now. I then get carers allowance weekly for looking after my mum. Nobody claims carers allowance for me.0
