@durhamjaide2001 it is flu then? The first week or so I was telling myself it was just a cold, but I’ve never felt this bad with a cold before. I had a flu shot in October, then just under a fortnight before I got this bug I had my Covid booster. I did wonder at first if it was just a side effect, but none of the previous ones had any ill effects on me. After I mentioned it to a taxi driver, he said a lot round town have it.
There should be like a “bugs, flu and cold” list for each town - at least then I’d know to stay home and push a mask through the letterbox to anyone who knocked on my door (joking) hahaha. I don’t seem to find out half the town has it till I get it though.1 -
Good evening all you lovely people - that's it i am not doing any more cooking, entertaining i'm done ha ha.
Hope your all well and yes i will say @Jules_H there are lots in my large family and others on scope who have this years flu like cold - it's been a real nasty one.
Yes @Sandy_123 i have mentioned to Janer about me and you being Matrons of Honourx

Hope everyone has had a good day, or at least as well as can be expected.I'm sorry you're so poorly @Jules_H - not to be pessimistic but one of my grandchildren has had this bug too, & been quite chesty. She was prescribed penicillin, which she seems to have been allergic to, & had a rash which spread all over her body, & then her face!I was hoping to see her, her siblings & my daughter tomorrow, but she's still not quite over it all 4 weeks later my daughter told me today, so their visit has been postponed as they don't want me getting it.Hi @66Mustang - I had a lovely day today, thank you. My son & his wife entertained my cat (as she's an opportunist where food is concerned!), & they also did all the washing up.Hi @Cher_Scope - I hope you all managed to enjoy your Christmas despite your husband being decidedly under the weather. I bet your son enjoyed his presents, as well as the wrapping paper!1

@SueHeath the only think I inherited from my dad was his awful sinuses, so I can’t use the watery type sinus squirter things up my nose. I tried tablets which worked and cleared my nose so well it hurt to breathe through it without my eyes watering.
You’re right about the water though. I save the 500ml drinks bottles for times like this, so I’ll fill those up and put them around the house. Lozenges don’t seem to help much with my dry mouth. Because I don’t have much of a temperature, it being a dehydration headache didn’t occur to me.0 -
@chiarieds oh no, that’s awful, children must feel it even worse. They’re not as experienced to colds and bugs as adults. I don’t have kids but I still find it heartbreaking seeing children when they’re poorly. I think I’m on about week two. I am trying hard to suppress the coughing, it’s painful on the lungs now.0

@Ada boiled lemonade? That’s a new one on me. When my mouth tastes horrible when I’m ill I drink tonic or soda water. I think yesterday, after opening some presents, I sat here thinking “ok, what now?”. I knew my dinner was ready made microwaveable for if I wanted it, but all that build up and even before noon the deflated feeling hit me. I think it was a mix of that deflated feeling and feeling drained from this bug that got me so emotional. As I said I’m not usually like that, but then I’ve never had a bug like this one before.0

@Amberpearl I talk to my cat all the time. I don’t see people very often and then it’s nothing more than small talk in passing, so if I didn’t talk to my cat, my vocal muscles would start to waste and become weak. Even now if I talk more than a total of two hours in any day, I lose my voice, so when I get up in the mornings I always say good morning to my cat, I have conversations with him, he either falls asleep or looks at me as if I’m nuts hahaha. He seems to know when he’s done something wrong though, it must be a tone in my voice or something because as soon as I say “where’ve you been? Come here you’ve got bits stuck in your head”, he’ll immediately turn around and walk or run across the room.1
