Warm home discount

Hi I'm on a low income working 8 hours per week claiming universal credit and low rate pip, also I have limited capability of work. I have yet not received my £150 warm on discount on to my energy account. I know things have changed on this how do I go about finding out if I'm going to get it has I spoke to edf and they said you don't need to apply for it anymore. Is there a number I can call ? Also my atra was due a £25 cold weather payment which I also never received but other people in my area did, I put a note on my journal but they were not very helpful. How do I get this.

    Being on low income and claiming UC doesn't automatically qualify you for the Warm the discount, if you live in England or Wales. The qualifying criteria for this also depends on the size and age of your property.

    For the cold weather payment, although you have limited capability for work because you're working then you will only qualify if you have a disabled child on your UC claim. If you don't, you don't qualify. Those that do qualify will automatically receive the money, you don't need to apply.

    You’ll usually get Cold Weather Payments if you get Universal Credit and you’re not employed or self-employed. One of the following must also apply:

    You’ll also be eligible if you have a disabled child amount in your claim, whether you’re employed or not.

    James Taylor, director of strategy at Scope, said: “It’s shameful the Government is taking away the Warm Home Discount from those who need it most. Life costs a lot more when you’re disabled. Scope is hearing from disabled people whose health will deteriorate if they can’t stay warm. People who are having to turn off fridges, and who are worried about how they will run vital equipment like breathing machines and powered wheelchairs. The Government needs to provide more direct financial support now, not less, so disabled people don’t freeze and starve this winter.”

    We have a service called Disability Energy Support on the Scope website. They offer advice, and support where they can. I'd recommend giving them a call :)
