I had my PIP assessment today and feel so embarrassed. I have worked all my life sometimes 3 jobs to support my two children on my own. I have CROHNs, Fibromyalgia, ME, anxiety and depression. I have gone from being extremely active to nothing. I had to give up work. Just waiting on universal credit too. It’s been really hard and my mental health is through the roof. I keep replaying the assessment in my head. Worried I said too much or not enough. Found this forum and was grateful for some of the comments.

It's perfectly normal to feel this way after any assessment. At the moment in time it's impossible to predict anything. I know it's difficult but my advice it to try to forget about it because otherwise it will be a long 12 weeks because once the assessment report is returned this is the timescale for decisions to be made. You've done all you can for now.Once a decision is made you'll be contacted.1

Hello @Sharnsmart33 and a warm welcome to our online community, thank you for joining us and sharing some of your story.
I just want to reinforce not to feel embarrassed by claiming PIP or even what you might have said during the assessment. In these situations, we all do our best and that's what you did. I know I am guilty of ruminating after events, thinking 'oh no, why did I say that?!' but the assessors are there in a professional capacity and understand what a trying circumstance it is for people, especially those with anxiety. So go easy on yourself now, you did it - you should be proud
I just wanted to check, you mention your mental health is through the roof at the minute - are you receiving enough support around that?
Please keep us updated with how you get on and we're here at any point if other questions arise. Take care.

I’m lucky I have good friends and family. But it’s at night it gets really hard when I’m left to my own thoughts. Thank you for responding x0

I think it is natural to feel that way, they ask a lot of questions. At the time, you are busy giving answers, so not 'analyzing' what you've said at the time. What you're doing now is analyzing, trying to put everything together. I've had 3/4 assessments in the past. I keep doing exactly what you are doing. I had one end of November 2022, guess what I'm doing? I think about it, now and then, it's natural, but a total waste of energy. Do stuff to take your mind off it when you start thinking about it, listen to music, sing, hoover etc.0
