Hello I'm DebiS and confused about IHR

Hi, I'm new to the forum and would be grateful for any advice. Sorry if the post is long.
I work for the LA, I have had several episodes long term sick leave due to multiple health conditions, I have previously reduced my hours and have been redeployed.
I have currently been off sick for 6 months and was seen by the Consultant OH Doctor who advise that there were no further reasonable adjustments that could be made and that application for IHR was appropriate. 
I have complete the IHR forms that my Manager had sent me but HR are now saying that I must have another OH assessment to see if the outcome is the same before the application for IHR is sent. This is not the assessment to see if I meet the criteria for IHR but to see if the same outcome is made.
Any advice is appreciated.  TIA

    I might be missing something, but please can you explain what you mean be IHR, just so that I can understand fully? Do you mean 'Ill Health Retirement'?

    Hi there 

    Ihr with a local authority is quite a complex process fron what I have heard and something I'm not too familiar with but think it involves many oh assessment 

    I will tag in one of our members who recently has been through this and may be able to help 

    @SueHeath if you can help 

    Yoy can also speak to your union rep who should be able to advise 

    Ihr is in most cases a hard and long process with rules set by pension provider and require lots of evidence showing yoy cab no longer work at all in any capacity

    OK they should be familiar with the process and your hr dept should be too 

    Your pension provider should also have the process outlined for you to look at

    Good morning @debiS welcome to the group.
    Sorry to read about your ill health.
    I am afraid the process to get your hands on your pension, with the LA is a long one and yes you do have to have another assessment with the OH. The first one you had would of been from the works one, i take it they agreed with the out come that you will never be able to work again. The second one is from the pension them selves, so they agree that you will not be able to work again. That is the only way they will pay you on tier 2, which is the best out come for you. That means you get your whole pension with out being penalised for any missing years retiring early, i didn't realise this stage actually cost them more money, that's why the process is so long. 
    I have been on long term sick since Sept 21 and was finally released from my job Nov 22, i had my second assessment quiet quick. The pension like to have your own evidence as well, ie i sent a copy of a couple of my hospital letters. Mine has been agreed i am just waiting to see which package they are going to offer me and which one i will except, ie; lump sums and monthly income. just to help you - i had to send mine and husband birth certificate and marriage certificate. 
    Can i ask how old you are please, as i do understand the younger you are can make a difference as well.

    @SueHeath , thank you for the information, it is really helpful.The assessment is my LA's own OH not the one that will make the final decision. I am 51 years old, but, have multiple conditions each impacts on the other.
