I'm looking into permitted work. I know there's an earnings limit. Can I add costs on top of that?

Hi everyone, I’m completely new to this so plz bare with me. Can any of you please help me. I’m looking into permitted work self employed. I know there’s the limit I could earn but can I add costs on top of that say mobile etc? So for example if the limit is £100 can I actually earn £120 as £20 is for a mobile ?? Thank you so much

Hello there @Debolley and welcome to the community
Can you explain what you mean by mobile, do you mean a phone, or working 'mobile' rather than in one fixed place? Just so I can understand more fully, then we can help advise you in the best way.1 -
Which benefits are you claiming exactly? Permitted work applies to ESA, if it's this you're claiming are you the claimant or a partner of the claimant?

Hi Alex sorry I meant phone, advertising. I am also in esa support group0

Sounds as if you are getting income based ESA.
Permitted work rules here

Working out earnings for self employment is not simple and is usually calculated based on annual accounts.

oh no now I’m even more confused, how would I know if I’m going over them?0

No one can answer that question because it will depend on your earnings and expenses annually.0
