Taking Curtains Down

Hello,
The curtains in my flat really need either replacing or a good wash/clean! I require help because I will have to use a pair of step ladders to unhook the curtains and with my unsteady balance, this could be somewhat dangerous.
I have asked a cleaning company but they told me that the specific services that I require are not in their remit.
Is there an organisation that helps disabled people with household chores other than regular cleaning?
I'm in the London area.

Do you have either a friend, neighbour or family member that can help with this? If not then i'd advise you to do a google search for your local area or you can have a look on facebook or gumtree for your area as people often advertise on there.

AgeUK offer a handyman service for disabled people, you should give them a ring and see if you are eligible and if they cover your area0

Do the curtains actually need taking down and washing?
If they are quite thick ones you could try giving them a good vacuuming with the vacuum tools.
Or possibly spraying them with a fabric cleaner like Febreze would make a difference.0 -
I recently took my curtains to be cleaned as they are not machine washable. I enquired on price at the cleaners and it was cheaper for one of the pairs to be rebought than to have cleaned.0

One pair definitely requires replacing as there are tears in the material.
The other pair just needs a good wash/clean.1
