As with hundreds of us with mobility issues where getting out on a regular basis is not possible,we use more energy in the houses we live in.Interestingly I think the figure my electricity bill will be over the current threshold after the new financial year, have the Government done this to save paying people the WHD.
Like others I have to use a breathing machine at night, and alot of times during the day,it may not use a massive chunk of electricity, but if it stops,I'm up the creek without a paddle,I am also on the register like others as a priority person.
The Government always, always screw the people most in need, just because the building you live doesn't use as much electricity as others is a ridiculous reason, they don't think about the Summer months where if you are mobility challenged you need a pedestal fan,for Daytime and nighttime,my bills have been no difference from Summer to Winter.
There are a lot of grants available from organisations charity, local government, but it'll be like a lucky dip who gets them.
There is no appeal, for the disabled where they live dictates what help they get, which shows a complete ignorance to the disabled of the population who will miss out.It will without doubt push people over the edge.

There will be a lot of people that weren't entitled in previous years that are now entitled. There will also be a lot of people that didn't know they could claim it and were entitled to it, so they missed out too.Yes, there are also people that claimed in previous years that are no longer entitled to it now, myself included. It is what is it and there's nothing we can do sadly.0
