Hi there just looking for a bit of advice I'm new to all this and asking on behalf of my brother who I care for we have today been awarded pip enhanced daily and standard mobility we are still waiting on lcwra what was actually send off a good few weeks before we applied for pip so super lucky how fast it came though I'm just wondering if I should l let wca know via calling them I've added it to his work journal to let his work couch from universal credit but there so slow i always just found it easier to go direct and just looking for some advice of what else we can get for him now I've always found this sight so helpful but it's the first time I've added anything thank you for looking and taking the time for any advice it will much appreciated

    Your brother can report the changes that he's been awarded PIP if he has access to a journal but whether this will make any difference to his UC claim will depend on his circumstances.

    Does he claim UC with a partner? If so and their partner looks after them for at least 35 hours per week then can claim carers element of UC for looking after him.
    If not and he's single and under 35, privately renting then he'll now be entitled to the 1 bedroom rate of local housing allowance, instead of the shared rate.

    PIP and LCWRA are different benefits with different criteria being awarded one doesn't automatically entitle you to the other.  There is some overlap on some of the descriptors so if he thinks the PIP award will help there's no harm in sending the assessment report or decision letter to support their claim.     Thank you so much I left the message on his work journal this afternoon he's single and 37 years old he does private rent so that may help a bit I lm the one that cares for him with all my other family members we do it all between us so I we don't really want to claim anything for him for ourselves just anything to make his life a bit better really helps thank you again for replying

    As he's over 35 then his PIP award will make no difference to his housing element.
