ESA and PIP

Hi!
I receive new style ESA and was placed into the support group.

After procrastinating for so long, I finally applied for pip and recently had a telephone assessment.

I feel like the assessment went OK. But I just wanted to ask… When making a decision will DWP be aware that I am in the support group for ESA and does that make a difference?

I didn’t mention it during the assessment, I didn’t think that it was necessary but thinking about it now, I am regretting that I didn’t say anything.

The assessor seemed nice and was very forward, which I appreciated. But I guess all I can do now is wait.

    ESA and PIP are assessed differently so getting one doesn’t mean you are entitled to the other although DWP do sometimes take one from the other to inform the other.

    Hiya @Apple01
    Glad your application/assessment for PIP went well
    that’s good news.

    I don’t think they will automatically know/look it up I think I mentioned it on my assessment or forms and sent in a copy of my ESA assessment report as evidence to them for my claim that could be an idea if you wanted to ensure that they’re aware of it?

    Good luck 🤞🏽

    @Puja Thank you!
    I have actually never requested a copy of my ESA report. That might be something I will chase up on Monday.

    But I think I will wait for DWP to confirm they have received my PIP report from the assessors and then I will request a copy. From there I guess I will know where the outcome is heading and will have my ESA report ready in case I need to send more evidence.

    Hopefully, things will be even clearer for you soon @Apple01, particularly in terms of receiving copies and knowing where the outcome is heading.

    Please feel free to let us know how things go and don't hesitate to let us know if there's anything else we can do to support you  :)

    @L_Volunteer thank you!
    I requested a copy of my assessment report today. I received a text from DWP to confirm they have received the report on Tuesday (my assessment was last week Friday).

    The person I spoke to reiterated to me that the report is not final (they are yet to make a decision) and that it will take 7-10 days to arrive in the post.

    As much as I felt the assessment went OK, I know not to have any expectations.

    But fingers crossed!

    You are welcome @Apple01. Have you received a copy of your assessment report yet and, if so, how do you feel about it?

    Please don't hesitate to let us know how it goes and if you need any additional support in the meantime. Hopefully, it will go well for you  :)
