LCWRA Backdated Payments

Hi all,

I’m a newbie here, looking for some help re the above please?

My Daughter received notification on 24/12/2022 to say she had been awarded LCWRA.

The award has gone into pay today so assuming that the three month waiting period has been fulfilled, it just leaves her wanting to know exactly when the award will be backdated to? Her condition was officially diagnosed August 2022 but was putting in fit notes from December 2021.
UC50 done in May 2022 and assessment done November 2022.

She has asked this question last Friday on her journal, but no response as of yet.

Hope this makes sense!!

TIA for any thoughts.

If the Fit Notes have been continuous the extra is likely to be payable from April or June depending on when her monthly period covers and exactly when she reported her health condition in December 2021.

    Hi Calcotti,

    Thanx for your reply.

I have read on other forums that calculating LCWRA back payments can be a lengthy process so patience is the key here I guess!

It's not a lengthy process, they just need to recalculate your past statements. Your daughter should put a message on her journal under the payment section to ask about the money that's owed.

    Hi Poppy,

ok thanx, I know she did put a msg on her journal but I dont know in what section so I will check tomorrow.

I have read on several different threads that back payments can take several weeks but maybe thats because DWP dont consider them ‘high priority’ rather than it being a ‘lengthy process’!

It’s a case of getting to the top of the task list for the DWP staff and in some cases the calculations will be complex.

    Yes, thanx Calcotti

There is a huge amount of info on this subject, even just on this one forum, but very little from DWP. Daughter also being Autistic makes this tricky to navigate with her.

Many thanx again for the replies 😊

Would you feel comfortable sharing in which ways being autistic makes it tricky to navigate with her @SiouxseeSue? As a fellow autistic, I want to ensure we provide you and your daughter with the best possible support but I am aware every autistic person is different  :)

Hi, yes absolutely happy to share😊

The forum is not tricky to navigate, quite the contrary, there’s lots of great info and people respond really quickly.

My comment was in the context of helping her engage with UC. I find that really challenging - because of them - not because of her.

Shes not on here with me, this is for my benefit as her carer and very useful it us too thank you!

    Hope this gives some clarity😊
