hi wonder if someone could give me any info.  im looking into an appointee, it will be from the local council.  could anyone tell me how it works, what they can and cant do, does a person with an appointee still have to attend assessments if deemed too distressing and they have an apointee.    thanks

The majority of assessments are done by telephone. If you have an appointee then they can do the assessment on your behalf.

If you have to have a face to face assessment then you will be expected to attend the assessment with your appointee.

Welcome to the community @shrinkydink :) Thank you for joining us!

You may find it helpful to read our page on becoming an appointee, which talks a little bit more about the role of an appointee. If there's anything else you're unsure about, you should be able to speak to your appointee :)

thanks.  one thing im a bit confused about is how would a corporate appointee know what to put in any benefits forms if they dont know you personally or how your illness affects you.  thanks

If they don’t personally know you then it impossible to fill out any forms, unless they speak to you or someone that knows you first.
