Basic math and english

Since my brain injury I class myself as thick and lost my intelligence. Apparently I’ve been to university to do a degree, passed lots of courses but I don’t remember any of it and feel I need to start again. But I’m looking for a basic maths and English course to do at home. If anyone can guide me in the right direction I would be so grateful.

    Hi @louise321 - there are a lot of free (& paid) online courses, but it depends what you mean by basic. There are the 'Bitesize' courses for many different levels to start (again) from, e.g. :
    This 'may' be a place to start to see what level you need to try.

    @chiarieds thank you so much for sending me these links, I would find doing these in book form so I will see if I can contact them tomorrow for some advise. Thank you again

    @woodbine thank you for your lovely comment I didn’t know bbc did anything like this. I am going to look into this & see if they can advise me on the best way forward and hopefully be able to get a qualification

    I don't know how basic you're looking for @louise321 but i recently had to brush up on maths in order to help my teenage daughter when absent school staff meant she had no maths teacher for weeks.

    Maths i really never liked at all but i looked on you tube and can highly recommend Mr J.

    He goes nice and slow. And of course you can pause the vid at any time.


    But if you are going quite well and feel inspired - EDDIE WOO is your man!!

    Check him out on you tube. He also has his own channel called wootube!

    He is SO engaging he really makes maths quite fun. But he does talk much faster than mr j.

    Both of them start at maths for round about upper primary school level and go right through to GCSE level. And beyond.  Eddie woo is in Australia and mr J in America but the areas covered are just the same as in the UK.


    Bbc bitesize is good too and it depends how you like to learn. If nothing suggested suits you, look on you tube as there are so many maths lessons on there you will find one just right!
